Okay, I had to think back a bit - crazy to think it's almost been a decade since I did my swap (will be this August!) - the 1 bar is a lot easier to tune with - I went with the M62's 1-bar bolted into the intake manifold rather than the 2.5 bar LSJ MAP sensor.

Where I was getting confused was with the wiring of the 2.5 bar. The 2.5 bar connects up just fine with the factory wiring, but what I was thinking of was if you wanted IAT2s, you had to bring the wiring over from your MAF - losing IAT1s (temp at the intake), but gaining IAT2s.

For real tho, I know the tuner liked having the temps.

And daaaaaang, 10 years! Proof that you can have a reliable, long lasting modified car!

I would think the iat2 would be more important that the iat1 on a boosted engine. When I have mine redone I will be using the iat2 instead

Not so much for the the tune itself - more just for logging and watching on an Aeroforce.

Remember - there's a MAP sensor there it is using - it wants pressure, not temp (the latter influences pressure anyway, so it would be redundant). The engine won't use the IAT2 value for much.

I've been running without IAT2s for that almost-decade without issue.

Not saying it would cause issues, but with my cooling system it should be able to get it down near ambient temps anyways haha, easier to catch a problem with the cooling system if you can monitor iat2 at least. It's mostly for my piece of mind anyways

---------- Post added at 10:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:03 PM ----------

Plus my iat1 was always exactly the same as the ambient temp reading so I could still monitor both temps

@Coby7

You'll enjoy this...based on the Fleet Order Guide, for 2020, GM has discontinued the 1.4T in the Encore.

...the new one (LE2). It is now, once again, stuck with the OLD 1.4T (LUV).

Wut.

The only thing I can think of is this will be a "shared" model year between the current one and the new one...but even still, why bother deleting the engine?

Maybe it has to do with all the problems related to direct injection that don't handle bad gas very well. The LUV cleans itself.

Could be - but now that I think about it...with the Cruze being discontinued, nothing else uses the LE2...

Sonic is still stuck back with the old 1.4T (though they, thankfully, ditched the 1.8L), so that plus the Trax/Encore (so, really, only Gamma platform) use the old 1.4T, and nothing uses the new one.

Sonic, Cruze and Trax are all getting discontinued. Buick would like to kill the Encore but it's their best seller.

I doubt the Trax is getting discontinued entirely, but they are bringing a new one out - likely with the Trailblazer name, so the Trax name will be. Trax sold 179k last year and the Encore 186k - 5th and 4th place in the segment, respectively.

Cruze definitely is, but they still haven't made a decision on the Sonic. Orion Assembly makes that and the Bolt, so sooner rather than later I expect, but it may not need to right now.

GMFOG lists the Trax there for 2020 - just some color changes.
