I remember when I was in high school my neighbor took me to school (before I could drive) in a rabbit.

the vw golf is a way more expensive car to maintain/fix. my freind as the 20th anneversary GTI and for something usually simple like a thermastat ends up costin a crap town of money and a half day... his axel broke last weekend.. and because his is a 20th they were dealer part's only our part's stores cant get them.. but mainly if you get a vw make sure you got some money saved up... and if you get the turboed one... LAG FROM HELL....

ballin outta control in a camo balt

Uh... 'cause that VW looks like my old Geo Metro. Look at the body lines of that thing compared to a Cobalt.

That, and because it's a Chevy.

Cobalt= cheaper and decent car, sums it up. I would not take a VW or really any german car unless it was a lease or I could get rid of it as soon as the warranty runs out

Yes, it's widely known that german car parts are much more expensive than a cobalt's would be, also the parts for the cobalt are more available (aftermarket included), I detest hatchbacks (like that one) and volkswagen is known for electrical problems because for some reason they decided to put a lot of their wiring under the driver's seat or something like that...I've heard stories bout volkswagens...not so much about cobalts :D
