First Time Driving a Hybrid

So granted I haven't driven many cars in my life:

94 Astro Van
05 Astro Van
00 Express Van
93 Jetta MkIII 5 speed
93 Mustang 4 Cyl
and the Cobalt

Anyways, my bro rented out a newer 08 Altima 4 door for a photo shoot he was doing today, and it was a hybrid. I took it for a spin for a couple blocks, and it was so weird haha. I couldn't get over at how silent the whole thing was- the electric motor was such a weird sensation. The car had 33k of rental miles on it, and the interior was free of rattles ... I tried to burn out in it, but it had to no hand brake, just the left side tiny pedal . And burning out with the brakes was a recipe for fail so I didn't bother haha. Acceleration was surprisingly good, shifted out of 1st at 45 or so.. Unlike the Cobalt, it can't chirp the tires from a dead stop, it felt a lot more stable though. All in all, an interesting experience.

I'll never be a hybrid owner, and I hate new cars... But I guess I was surprised at the seamless operation of it all.

Idk, just posting my experience. Now the funniest thing is, out of all of those cars- the Express 5.7L is the fastest , and the 94 Astro was THE most fun to drive by far. God I miss doing donuts and drifting in the snow with that thing, not to mention it sounded awesome with an exhaust leak .

They've been around, but are kinda of rare in California, as they are pretty much shadowed by Camry, Prius, and Insights.

I'll never buy a hybrid, they are more expensive than they lead you to think

I drove a GMC Serria at the GM nationals car show a couple of weeks ago. It is strange how silent it is.
Without looking at the center display the only way to know the engine was running was by looking at the tach and the oil pressure gauge.
It also reminded me of how bad I want a full size truck.

Thats part of why I hate new cars. I like the old school way, how all of the information was read out to you in the dashboard.

Oil
Temp
Tach
Speedo
Voltage
Fuel

Now most cars only have the speedo, tach, and fuel... It sucks -_-

Oh, and with the Altima- I couldn't rev it, either in park, or in neutral; even when the engine was running... wtf lol

Sierras are nice trucks, we have one and it rides so much smoother than our old Dakota which we only had for a year cause it was like whiplash every time you drove it

The same with the 04 Canyon i had. I just had the soft Z85 not the off road package and it was still kinda rough. But the full size is nice and smooth and will likely be my next car.
