Why not remove side moldings and re-install? Time restritions?

The side mouldings are stuck down with double sided sticky tape...they are really hard to remove without getting a curl in the moulding and also when you retape them....they never seem to want to stick as well as factory install. i wish they were bolted on and I would fo sho..take em off. i guess it is the better of 2 evils. as long as you wet sand well around them and clean all dirt from edges all base coat and clear will stick quite well.
