1989 GMC sierra 1500

Well I'm looking to buy an 89 sierra with my dad for $500. It has almost 200,000 miles and has a little rust but won't start. The lady used it as a farm truck to haul hay and such. It was just inspected a few months ago and has new brakes and all that good stuff. It looks great inside and out besides a few things and would be a fun project. She said it ran fine a few months ago but hasn't been started. The battery wasn't frozen and we tried to jump it but still no luck. We didn't smell any gas when we pumped the gas.. so could it be a frozen gas line or something? It is an auto and had the 5.7. We just wanna get it started To get it to our house. Any ideas?

That should be a TB 5.7. Take off the air cleaner/filter elements, spray the TB injector down really well with Carb Cleaner. Let it sit for a while. Listen to hear for the fuel pump priming the fuel line. If the fuel pump turns on and you hear it run when the key is on (Not starting), keep the air cleaner element off the TB and start cranking it. You should see the injector spraying fuel. If you don't, then it could be either the fuel pump or the injector itself is gummed up.

or a frozen fuel filter. more often then not on the older (88-99) gm pickups if theres no fuel you can expect to change a fuel pump. they weren't notorious for it but more often than not its the fuel pump. dump a little fuel into the tb and see if it starts.
