Inspection Questions

Hey guys!

I'm finally getting around to do some projects with the car and was wondering if some of the stuff I do will fail me on inspection. I want to add foglights, a new body kit, Underbody (Which I know will fail but I already have a work around) HIDs, and a better exhaust. Has anyone had problems with PA inspection with the work they've done to their cobalts?

Foglights need to be wired to work with low beams only. They cant be on with the highbeams. You didnt specify if they would be stock or aftermarket. HIDs will fail if they are only a single beam. Also if its over 4300k it will fail. We hold a peice of paper in front of the light if we know it has HID installed aftermarket to check color. Exhaust will be fine as long as its not held up with coat hangers. As far as a body kit goes it has to be fastened properly an cant sit much lower than stock bumpers. I dont know the measurments off hand. Im a state certified inspection mechanic. You would be suprised what actually passes haha.

I've noticed a lot of mechanics will let stuff go. I would ask the person who will be inspecting it before you do any mods. I'm from pa and I have 6k hids in the lows(projector headlights) and regular bulbs for highs and it passed. I've seen purple headlights on an eclipse

Oh OK
Yeah its not a "drift" kit and its almost identical to the SS styling. The hids won't be blue, I forget what the color is but I have silvania zxe bulbs in ATM and I like that color. The true white. The exhaust won't be held up by coat hangers haha if I'm paying $600 for an exhaust im getting proper hangers. I was worried about the kit because I read somewhere about the fenders if they're different its an automatic fail.

For the fogs I want them to actually be like the SS wired to a switch cause I only want them in bad weather. They're going to be more for function than show. I was prob. Going to scrap a set from an SS when I pull the switches I need from my local junkyard.

They cant be on toggle switches. Have to be wired up as if it were stock and cancel with the highbeams. If they are on the car at time of inspection they have to function properly. As far as fenders go, they cant extend more than 3 inches from the wheel. This is more for guys in jeeps with the 6 inch fender flares. The true white HID is 4300k. Dont get ghe 5000k. You will be a cop magnet.

If everything wires up from factory you are good the only time you need to worry is when its aftermarket with a toggle you gotta worry about.
