How to remove inlet duct on a N/A 2.2l
First up: Remove the wheel. I'm not going over that.
Second: Remove these bolts and body clips.
There are 3 on the rear of the wheel well. 2 body clips and one phillips screw on the bottom.
Then on the front there are 3 bolts (7mm) on the outer lip of the well, and one on the inner part of the well.
Here's a pic of the bottom 2 and the inner one, the 3rd is just above these 2.
There is also one body clip on the top section of the well. (Sorry no pic here.)
Then under the front bumper there is 2 more bolts in the front.
Sorry kind of a bad pic.
I also removed the 2 screws holding the lip on the bottom of the bumper to the actual bumper, I don't know if this is required or not to remove the mud guard, but I did.
Third: Remove the mud guard. It is tucked under the fender lip at the top so it takes just a little coaxing to come out. Once out you will be looking at this.
Here you can see the airbox. On top is a little resonator. This just pops off.
Here's the little resonator once removed.
Then you can see in this picture again one of the body clips that holds the airbox to the body toward the top of the pic. Remove this.
And finally there is a 10mm bolt toward the front of the housing that needs to be removed as well. Here you can see it in between the pipe and larger resonator.
Remove that and the airbox should just pop off the filter housing with a gentle pull.
I decided to put the 10mm bolt back in because it holds some plastic trim in place. You can see it in this pic.
And here's the old airbox with the little resonator on top.
And without the little resonator for reference.
Reassemble and enjoy.
