Reverse Lights Not Working
I have a 2009 Cobalt LS with 2.2L automatic transmission. The reverse lights don't come on when the car is in reverse. Bulbs and fuse are good. I've replaced the Neutral Safety switch (Park-Neutral-Position switch) with no luck. Rear parking and brake lights work fine. Ground at the rear harnesses are good too. There's no power at either rear harness on the green wire (which goes to the reverse light socket) when the car is in reverse. So I *assume* I need to physically trace the wires from front to back to see if there's a problem somewhere (I've read that this wire may run under the driver's seat).
I've read that the manual transmissions have a reverse light switch that plugs into the transmission and can be tested/replaced pretty easily, but it seems the automatic transmission has this reverse light function built into the PNP switch.
I know how to get to the harness that connects to the PNP switch, and I have an automotive circuit tester and a multimeter, but I'm not sure how to proceed.
I'm looking for a little advice about next steps. I'm not a mechanic or electrician, but with a little guidance, I'm hopeful I can get to the root of this one.
Thanks in advance for any help.
