Replaced Coolant Temp Sensor, Lost Reading During Driving Test

I installed a new temperature coolant sensor on my 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt LT. When driving around to test it, it was getting a temperature reading but it soon just went blank. All I see are dash marks. I replaced it to resolve the check engine light and even tho that light hasn't gone on yet, I'm worried because I need to do a smog test in California to renew my registration.

Anyone had this problem?

No cel? You have the same symptoms as a p0128 thermostat concern. Replace the thermostat and replenish the coolant. That should resolve the dashes under coolant temp. Ensure you get a 180 degree either AC delco or equivalent.
