I would think the computer would calculate going by the minimal spec and weight oil etc. they specified in their owners manual. Anything above that that,,, well, it's a plus.

Old school maintenance

I have always tried to change my oil every 3,000 - 5,000 miles (I've never owned a car that wasn't at least 10 years old). Every time I get gas, I check my oil. So I was amazed when my girlfriend's '08 Cobalt told her she still had 40% oil life left when she was already driven well over 5,000 miles since her last change. I agree with what a lot of people have said on here. Changing your oil too soon will never hurt your engine, and I'd rather do that than trust her car to a computer.
