Question Click Sound?

when i turn off the car, i hear this "cling". so i thought it was normal but i was curious so now when i put the ign the acc spot (the one before starting the car) i hear the cling sound. Sounds like somewhere in my transmisson. Could it be the pins engaging and dis-gaging?

Only happens when i'm in park, turning off the car and putting the car in the acc spot?

btw, my starter is taking a lil longer than it used to do. proberly it takes 1.5 seconds to turn on the car. is it normal?

a click sound or a cling sound?

Sounds like a starter issue to me. Ive had a few friends have their starters go and it makes a definite clicking sound when they try to start the car.

Also, I dont think it this is the case for you, but I had a friend think his starter stopped working on his grand prix at a gas station but it turned out to be his battery instead. Might be worth it to check just for sh*ts and giggles

I think what you are reffering to is normal...not being there I can't be sure...if you are talking about a sound from under the hood after the ignition is turned off I believe it is your throttle body. The throttle body closes completely when the ignition is shut off to prevent engine run-on. Shortly after that it releases and makes a sound similar to what you are describing. The throttle plate is double-spring loaded to slightly open...turn off key and the throttle plate closes...then it gets released and you hear the noise. When you turn the key on it also closes the throttle.

If you want to check...just take off the air cleaner and watch your throttle to see if that is indeed the sound you are hearing.
