Door Locks?!?!

anyone ever had a problem with the actuators or w/e going out or bad? my chevy dealership installed a key fob for me and ever since the doors randomly lock and no matter what i do they look unlocked but they have a dead handle and wont open or unlock... not even with a key.
i got to school and had to leave cause i couldnt get out of the car! if i dukes of hazzarded it out then i couldnt roll up the window. i went there before and they said it was actuators and it was gonna cost around 400 which is complete bs. they have it now. any thoughts?

lol if it's the actuator...it's $15 each so you're getting pretty ripped off. I have an LS, and i'm picking up 2 actuators this afternoon to install them end of week to work with my alarm system(which is already installed). All said and done my alarm AND actuators AND the hours I put into installing them will be less than $291....so all I can say is WTF. sucky dealership I guess. hope it all works out though!

ok all together it was 284 with labor... the dealer we have is the reason i dont like GM.. they dont want to help with anything and if you ask a question they walk around and ask everyone else. no wonder GM paid back the government so fast, they skyrocket prices! they said they only had one more actuator and i asked them if i could buy it and install it and only have them get the door to open... they said its too complicated for me to do, and i cant get the door open..... can you say douche bags?

i envy you
next time someone tells you something's too complicated for you, do yourself a favor and tell them to f*ck off...you have us here to help you :P

I know at least for me, if a GM guy said something like that was too complicated for me I would freak out on him, and go buy the actuators elsewhere. I got my two today at Best Buy for $15 each. Should be a fun install, gonna do it same time as suspension, this Thursday. Unless you're really bad with wiring, it's really not that tough to do. Well, at least you've got them working now...nxt time though, get a quote first, get all the info, and then decide weather to let them do the work or not. I know a lot of mechanics/ dealers try to pressure you into doing work, even when you are having second thoughts. I've had it happen to me and I hated it, will never let them pressure me or give me bad service again. If they try to pull crap like that on me, I will tell them to give me my keys, thank you have a nice day. Another dealer will gladly do the work and I will be complaining to the owner....

Here's the deal. If your dealership tries to talk down to you, just turn around and go elsewhere. It isn't like GM dealerships are few and far between.
