Does Anybody Have a Idea How Much This Will Cost?

Ok,so ever since about 4,000 miles after i got my car about a year and a half ago my engine lights been on. i havnt gotten it checked simply cause everything was working fine and i didnt have time or money. So last weekend i took my car in to the dealer to get recall and some other work done. they pulled three codes because of the light and said they all had to do with fuel. The guy said it could be the fuel door or something like that. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how much it might cost to fix. because yesterday i had aout 1/8 tank of gas and it had trouble starting. Ive also noticed it has the same trouble starting when i put gas into the car. does anybody know what the problem is and how to fix it or how much it will cost to get it done?

If the cas cap is not tight or if the gasket is leaking so that it won't hold pressure the check engine light will come on. The code will be something like "evaporator emision failure" or something similer. Make sure you check you cap for damage, and tighten till it clicks after gassing up. The fuel tanks run with positive pressure of about 3 lbs and if not the light will come on. I would have someone reset the code, make sure of the cap, and see it it comes back on. You also may have a leak in the system, loose fill hose or, whatever. Good luck.

ok.thanks. i know the gas cap has been tight so ill try and see about replacing the gasket, and i can reset the code myself here at school and see if it pops up again.i dont think there is a leak otherwise id notice the smell of gas when my car sits or there would b gas under the car. I don't think that was one of the codes the guy had said tho. He said they all was with fuel specifically. he didn't mention anything about emissions. But then again i heard from him and not the tech first hand so things can always be reworded and confusion can occur. Thanks for the input tho.

nawh,im not covered on it,i have around 53k miles on it now and i bought it used last year and they said the warrenty only lasted about 10k miles cause it had 32k on it when i bought it.and they didnt say anything about the 3 year. so no i dont think im covered.i just kind of wantto see if anybody else has had the same problem and if they have how much did it cost. but if i did have the 3 year warrenty id b good cause its a 2007 and this would be the last year for it. but when i bought the car they mentioned nothing of it

nah, its a 3 or 36 whichever comes first. (and many 07's were made/delivered in 06, so it still wouldn't work)

sorry to hear (you kinda made it seem like it was brand new. lol)

LT1R, My warranty book says that specified major components of the emission system are covered for 8 years or 80,000 miles. I would think the the fuel tank or gas cap if it's the OEM cap would be a major component of the system. However I don't know for sure. I know it won't hurt to ask, hopefully you are covered. G luck.

After the gasket I would get a gas cap from Ebay too. I mean that's a slim possibility, but it's also cheap. If not fixed take the car to autozone and get the code read and cleared. If the code comes back get it read again and post the exact code on here. We may be able to help more knowing the exact code.
