At my work (dealership) we get some of the GMs coming in with these problems all the time. Almost always Cobalts/G5s too haha. The contact pad on the button pad gets ****ed for some reason so it stops working. I've tried cleaning the pads and McGuyvering repair solutions but none work. The good news though is you just need a new button pad since your remote works fine. So no need to buy a new one and have it programmed.
