Cobalt Dome Light Assembly Removal

I am having trouble figuring out how to remove the dome light assembly for a 2006 Cobalt LT to get a look at the connections. we have a migrating problem in it (dome light won't turn on, switch stops working, reading lights won't work) and we wanted to make sure the connector is seated correctly and that there's no corrosion causing a short.

We have the cover off, but the assembly itself won't budge. is there a clip I'm missing, or is it just a matter of force or finesse? I'm afraid to pull too hard lest we snap a clip.

there are clips, I used a knife to pop them loose (to pry not to break) then the main piece just pulls out of the headliner...be warned tho...its a ***** to put back together, I still have a gap
To say it better...there are 3 parts to it...the clear cover, then there's the piece that the clear piece snaps into, then there's the main piece thats in the headliner...so u have to unsnap 2 pieces and pull the 3rd piece out
And welcome to the site by the way
