Help Me? My Car is Falling Apart ):

Okay lately my car has been screwing up big time..
about one month ago my tire was making a weird noise like something was beating against my rim.. i was on my to get it fixed and crossed some railroad tracks and my wheel started turning and i just hit the ground and my tire flew off and rolled away on the sidewalk.. so i had to get it towed and they said my lug nuts broke. so that screwed up my whole right fender and now i dont have one on..

then about 2 weeks ago, my key got stuck in my ignition and i couldnt get it out, finally my step dad got it out for me but now everytime i get out i have to unplug some switch from my steering wheel column or it kills my battery completely, and ever since that has happened when i am riding down the road or something my car just locks and unlocks repeatedly over and over and it won't stop.

and finally recently my speaker has been acting really weird, when my engine is running it makes a weird noise through the speakers and it sounds realllly bad but when the engine is off it doesn't do anything.

any help?

A friend of mine has a 2007 that's falling apart slowly as well but I'm almost positive he beats it so lesson learned: take care of your car lol (not saying you don't)

The wheel studs (not the lug nuts) broke for some kind of reason for example: overtightened, not tightened enough..

The key stuck in the ignition is a normal problem on cobalts, there is a recall out to have it fixed at the dealer.

the locks going crazy most likely has something to do with your messed up ignition cylinder, I'm guessing your car has auto locks and the ignition cylinder is part of what triggers that. Also the battery going dead could have something to do with the ignition cylinder being bad, if the ignition is not being fully turned off that will kill the battery in a hurry.

Front speakers are very common to blow out in cobalts as well. As far as the noise. Your speaker is picking up engine noise through the wiring some where. Do you have an aftermarket system? that would be a major give away if you ran some of your own wiring.

all of these problems are fixable and not the biggest deal. The fender being messed up is the worst part of it.

The shifter recall is only for the 2009 Balts. If you have anything other than an 09, the recall will NOT cover you. I had that problem with mine (an 06) and the hubby just had to replace the shifter. (The issue was the cylanoid, but to replace that, he had to replace the whole shifter.)

For the "possessed" door locks, it's a cheap and easy fix. All it needs is a new lock switch on the driver's side. The part for my 06 was about $20, and as I watched my hubby (a body guy) replace it, I was slapping myself on my head. It was so simple that I would have been able to do it.

You are correct, there was a shifter recall but that is a completely separate issue. And for my response to this thread please read Blazerlows post above, he covered everything.

The bad cylanoid (sp?) in the shifter is what causes the key to get stuck in the ignition. Basically, the bad part causes the shifter to not fully engage in park. This problem first started for me back this past summer. The only way that I could get the key out was to bang on the shifter. In December, when my hubby was working on my car for an accident I was in (he's a body guy), the cylanoid finally went completely out. We couldn't get the shifter to hold a gear at all. It just slid around without ANY force. Even when car was turned off. Hubby replaced the shifter, and I haven't had a problem since. AND was able to "slide" the shifter before he replaced it, and not able to after.

Don't count on not having to pay for it unless you have an 09, though!
