Tail Brake Light Issue...

For as long as I've had my '06 Cobalt, the 3rd brake light hasn't worked properly. When I brake, all three brake lights go on, but once my foot is off the brake, the left/right brake lights go out while the tail light stays on. At one point I found out that the light stays on even after the car had been shut off for 8 hours. Playing around a little I found that I could lift up the brake pedal slightly to make the light go out but that hasn't stopped it from happening again and again.

Now I just disconnect the tail light, but I have had garages look at it, in which case they've had no idea what was wrong, or they've tried replacing the bulb. Have any of you encountered this?

Brakelight switch, common problem on GM Vehicles since about 02, thank you cheap China parts. Plug and play, easy to replace..
