Nothing on the Gauges at Startup....

When I fired up my baby this morning (yes, she's my baby again...lol) NONE of the gauges moved from zero. Fuel said empty, RPMs @ 0. I let her run for a minute or 2, shut her off, re-started her, and she was fine. Drove the six-ish miles into work, no problems, and every time I've started her since, she's been fine. Thoughts??? She's garage parked in the winter (not a heated garage, though), and while it's been unseasonably warm here lately, this morning was the coldest it's been all winter (lower 20s). I don't really think the outside temp has anything to do with it, though...If that were it, it wouldn't have been the one isolated incident today. Would it? (Didn't get more than a couple of degrees warmer during the day than it was at 630 am when this happened.)

Maybe the BCM just didn't boot up properly or it might be a sign of things to come.

What year is your Cobalt, Teri2280? While I can't help with diagnosing a vehicle over the internet, I could check into your warranty parameters, if you like. Get in touch via private message with the last 8 digits of your VIN and I'll get you more information!

Thanks, but the warranty is long gone. I bought her used and only had 3 years on her left at the time of purchase.

Did you happen to know if your steering assist also was not booted when your gauges failed to boot. If so this means that it was your ECU that did not booth properly. How old is your battery? One of the symptoms of an older battery especially in colder weather is that voltage drops too low upon cranking and ECU, BCM, PCM and TCM may not booth up properly. By waiting like you did and shutting it off made so car would crank over easier therefore battery voltage stayed higher, high enough for proper booth-up.
