Question Creaking/rubbing Noise While Coasting. Need Help.

two weeks back, took her in and had an oil change, brake service, and a transmission service. today while driving noticed what sounds like a sort of creaking-rubbing sound. only present while coasting, gas and it stops, brake and it stops.

preliminary googling suggests transaxle, however 6 mos ago i had the struts and shocks replaced by a mechanic who frankly failed to inspire confidence (as-in i'll never go back.) so i have to mention this.

also have had sporadic engine light appearances, was told (by new mechanic) it's the evap solonoid, and not to worry. have yet to replace and light shuts off without any computer reset.

major concern is this creaking/rubbing sound, is it safe, what is likely culprit, reasonable estimate of associated costs.

jack up the front of your car and put the car in neutral. Front tires should still spin and you can look for the noise without the risk of getting pulled into the tire if you got fetched up.

Was this visit to one of our dealerships? I'm available to follow up with them if you like. Or, if you decide to work with a dealer, again please let me know as I would like to be available to assist as much as I can.

Best,
