Speedometer Problems

like a lot of 06 cobalt owners i was having problems with my power steering and i found out there was a recall on it. but at the same time my speedometer quit working. I got the power steering motor replaced at the dealership but it didn't fix the problem of my speedometer what could be the problem?

Do you have a CEL ?

1) It could be the stepper motor in cluster
2) It could also be your VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) or it's connection. But in this case you would also lose ABS (Automatic Braking System).

Do you have cruise, does it work? If cruise works it's your cluster. Speed sensor must be on top of drivers side output shaft of transmission. Not sure mine is an auto. But I'm sure somebody here knows where the VSS is on a manual.

Hope you're able to get this resolved, Flip.A.K.! If you decide to head back in to the dealership to get this looked into, please let me know! I'm here to assist in whatever way I can.

Best,
Sarah
