Ignition Cylinder Letter

I wrote about my car not turning off a little while ago and how I had to drive it up to a repair shop and they had to replace the ignition cylinder. I also went to the GM dealership in town and they said I was out of luck.

Today I came home to a letter from Chevrolet. It was from Jim Moloney, General Director - Customer & Relationship Services.

A form was enclosed to fill out and send in for reimbursement for my cost to replace the ignition cylinder....wow!

Sara (I think that is your name) if you had anything to do with this thanks!

I'm sending it in tomorrow.

I got this in the mail yesterday too! My ignition cylinder broke around February this year, and Chevy said they wouldn't replace it except for big bucks. I had another guy do it, but now I am happy Chevy will reimburse me

Lucky you! I had my ignition cylinder fail a month after buying my car (car wasn't under warranty, was under 3 years but over milage by like 4000 miles) and it cost me $250 for chevy to replace it.

how is it determined who gets these letters, who gets an ignition cylinder replacement

I only ask because mine is getting harder and harder to start...it sticks almost all the time, now I have figured out how to jiggle the key and get it to turn, but I'm sure there will be a time it doesn't

I knew mine had to be replaced when the key wouldn't turn and the engine was on O.o

I believe Sarah from Chevy Customer service (she has a account on here) can tell you what open recalls you have if you give her your VIN
