Battery Voltage Idling at 16 Volts?

Alright so i've had my balt for around 2 months. Its a base model with the 2.2, has about 129k on it. Over the past few days i've been monitoring the voltage on my multi-meter. Sometimes it sits just over 12 volts, sometimes it will run at 14.4 ish(which i thought all stock cars would idle around) and sometimes my voltage will start off at 15 volts and work up to 16 volts sometimes. I checked out a different forum, and someone had the same problem and people were suggesting the voltage regulator is probably bad? I found it sort of weird being a stock alt. and it was charging up so high. but I was just curious to if anyone else has had this happen to them, and if so how did they fix it?

Thanks!

You must be burning bulbs. Only way to fix that is to change the alternator. Battery charging voltage should never exceed 14.5 volts, 14.3 being nominal. @ 16 volts something is going to give....

you should change it before it gets worse, if voltage starts to go up you can fry electrical equipment
