Stupid Booster Pillar! Fried ECU?

So I was removing the booter pillar at the fusebox under the hood and the stupid thing slipped out of my hand and landed on the ECU (and the power line of course). I could hear the ECU click, not a shorting out click, but rather a relay type click.

What a STUPID STUPID design! Why put a 3" constant 12v+ booster pillar only 2" from a metal encased computer module?!?! Come on GM!

Now everythings all sorts of f**ked up. Guages are intermittent, TC and CEL lights are on. "Power Steering" on the DIC.......fuk me :(

Gunna try popping the ground off the battery for 15-20 and 'resetting' the ECU before replacing it. I've heard that this may fix a "possessed" ECU, but if not, I gotta get a new one. I should be able to program it using a learn routine I found, but if that doesnt work, off to the dealership :(

Well now I'm really confused, your garage shows your car as manual. But if it's auto are you sure you fried the "ECM" and not the "TCM"?

Maybe you just blew the "TCM" fuse or burned the ground lead!!!

Its absolutely the TCM. I was just coming to ask that! Go figure. Was looking at ECM prices on ebay for comparison and saw a pic, and realized it wasnt the ECM. Looks cheaper which is a plus.

Does anyone know if there is a programming sequence for a TCM replacement? Or just pop it in.

DONE!!!

It just needed to be grounded. What a joke! Car is working fine again, just has the CEL light stored in memory.
