Dome Light Will Not Go Off

I have searched and cannot find a fix for this. I have a 2005 cobalt. The dome light works in the on position and will go off in the off postion. The problem is that it will stay on in the door (center) postion and will not shut off. I have been leaving it in the off position, but would like to get it working again. Thanks for any help or suggestions you guys might have.

Does your rear window defogger work?

The most common cause for your problem is the rear defog connector goes bad, (Bare with me here lol), the connector starts to heat up making the connector worse eventually frying the defog wire. Well this wire runs adjacent to the gray wire coming from your"BCM" pin "A10" of connector "C3". So somewhere between the rear deck speaker lid drivers side and just behind the drivers under the carpet and driver side rear door your wire has melted it's jacket and touching ground. This is not a big job to repair but there is a lot of dismantling because you will want to fix your rear defog also for this winter.

Hey, Coby7, just wanted to say thanks. I was showing that wire grounded. I started to take everything apart (headliner, drivers seat, pillar trim, etc) Before I got the headliner all the way down I reached up and felt wire and connection felt ok. I moved the harness around under the drivers seat and I unhooked the harness at th bcm. When I re-attached at the bcm it started working right again so I threw it all back together. Long story short I now have a working dome light again. It may be a short term fix due to moving the harness around but at least its working. Just wanted to say thanks again.

Did you see any discolored wires from heat? Or maybe it was just chafed on a sharp corner somewhere. You might be good for and other 5 years now. lol
