Exclamation Shifter

Alright, seems as if recently I have had a laundry list of problems, has anyone done much work with the shifter? I went to go shift into drive the other day and heard a metal clang took apart the center console around the shifter only to find some sort of metal post or rod if you will, and after that i was unable to get my key out of the ignition. Today i found a way to get the key out of the ignition but now have no idea where this piece goes. It just looks like a little piece of metal with notches in the middle of it.

Unfortunately dealer sells whole shifter assembly. You might be able to get a good one from the junkyard.

That's the main pivot shaft, how the hell did that come out on its own, especially sitting where it is. If you were to try and pull that out with the shifter bolted in you would have to really work at it. OK, good news you don't need to buy a new shifter but you are definitely going to have to remove the shifter assembly from it's present spot to be able to re-insert that pivot shaft. How the hell did that come out on its own is behond me.....

Yeah i have no idea either i have taken all the trim off around the shifter the only thing still in tact is the shifter itself, so where does this need to go?

This piece goes through the bottom of the actual shifter lever if I'm not mistaking.
