TPMS (Tire Pressure) Not Learning

Hey guys,

My girlfriend left her light on overnight and killed the battery, and when we got it jumped off it required a tire pressure reset. She gets "SVC TIRE MONITOR with the tire light flashing and no pressure readings on any tire. Tried to do the reset procedure as it's laid out in the manual, but it won't learn. I get to the point where the horn beeps and I let out air, but I never get the two beeps after that. I've tried it on all 4 wheels and the pressure difference is never acknowledged. I've tried adding air, removing air, letting it out for a few seconds (as it says in the manual) and waiting, letting it out for 30 seconds, the works. It never progresses beyond this point. After a few minutes, it finally does the "I give up" horn honk and drops out of learn mode.

You might be thinking I didn't do the procedure right, but I absolutely did. She even had the tires aligned today and asked them to do the reset while they were at it, and the shop was also unable to get the sensors to learn. Said that it was probably "the computer". With confirmation from the shop that something was wrong, I figure it's time to try to fix it.

Anyone else ever run into this problem?

Did you try disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes and reconnecting? Before doing the TPMS relearn.

Not yet, but I guess it couldn't hurt to try. Is there any sort of diagnostic that can be done without having a specialized tool? It couldn't be on the wheel side since none of the four are learning, but I don't really know what system it goes through.

When I killed my batteries and put a new one my TPMS light also came on but i said to myself ill do it later i just wanna get home. To my surprise it actually went back to the reading I had before after driving for a while.

Oh and left lights on? Why not just keep it on auto?

The dead battery happened over a month ago and it hasn't come back. The light was the interior dome, not the headlights.

I was under the impression that our cars have some kind of "battery saver" program coded into the BCM that shuts down everything after 20 minutes of no key in the ignition. Not sure where I heard or read that. Apparently not.
