Good morning and welcome to the forum, GeraldSterner1.

Sorry to hear about your Cobalt troubles. :( If you have any questions about warranty concerns, or if you wanted for me to help get you set up with a dealership to get this checked into, please don't hesitate to contact me either via private message or email (see my signature). Include your name, contact information, and the last 8 digits of your VIN, as well as a brief summary of the situation if you decide to go the email route so I know who you are.

Maybe im misunderstanding the problem, but i would start by looking at pedal and linkage adjustment. especially since you are on a semi new clutch in the winter.
When you say clutch released, do you mean pedal in or out? Down or up i guess.
