Service Air Bag

So I did a search to see if this was already a thread, couldn't find anything, so lo and behold. I get the Service Air Bag warning every 5 minutes. Quite annoying. Common problem? I don't know if I'm still in warranty, I'd have to get the GM rep to check for me.

Well what are you asking us for? Go service it! lol. Just playin man. It could be a defect in your airbag where the Capacitor for the ignitor on it isn't holding a charge (thus making it so the airbag won't deploy when it needs to because it doesn't have the power to. Or it could be a faulty sensor, or a few numerous things. I'd say, take it to the dealer and ask them to check it out for you and see what they say. they should offer a free diagnosis of it, or something of the sort for a very small charge.

The_X,
Send me the last 8 digits of your VIN and mileage and I'll let you know if you're still in bumper to bumper or not.

Nothing's sitting in the passenger seat. I removed the air bag assembly for some reason in the past, I can't remember why, but I put it back 100% correct and that was around a year ago. The problem only recently started happening about a month ago, so it can't be related to that. Don't have spare cash so I'm gonna see if Sarah from GM can give me some good news with the warranty information :P

Well sarah has informed me that all of my warranties are still active so does this mean i wont have to pay if i go get it checked out? Ive only ever gotten service for recalls, never took my car in for a standalone issue.

Call them up and ask. As long as it's in writing up front you should be good.

But I've never taken it in for a problem I've had with my car. If I go in and say "Hey, fix this please", and they do, will it cost me money?

check connections,if not if there is anything else electrical wrong like wipers,ac problems, radio ect.i had a short and it blew out a fuse making all of those shut down, but it may just be connections or a smaller fuse if you are not having any other problems
