I Think I Done Gone and Did It Now

So I drive an automatic Cobalt and a friend of mine (who doesn't drive a Cobalt) informed me on how to race off the starting line using Low Gear, 2nd gear, then third. Well, the auto Cobalts have L, I, and then D. Needless to say, I gave it a shot and haven't done it again since, but I have noticed a definite change in the car's performance now. If I punch the throttle whether it be from a dead stop or at 60 mph, I get this low growling sound, like the car won't down shift before up shifting again. So, does any one know what I could have possibly messed up and about what it's gonna run me? Thanks in advance for the replies.

I shouldn't have bounced off the limiter, whatever that means, but I suppose it could be a possibility. I haven't done anything else but maybe I should've taken it a little slower when I tried it, I pushed it pretty hard and revved up some good RPMs.

Did your rpms bounce on redline? Does the car feel sluggish all over or just the tranny not shifting right?

i dont think his should have bounced on the red line, i know when its in L it will automatically shift up so that you DONT bounce on the redline. i think the sames for I

These cars have an electronic rev limiter to avoid damage, unless someone tampered with the limit with a scan tool.

Well, I'm confident it hasn't been tampered with. Whether or not I redlined, I'm not 100% certain because my eyes were on the road and making sure that the notoriously bad drivers here in New Orleans didn't impede upon my fun. As of now, the car seems to operate fine at half throttle, accelerating properly and shifting properly, but when I go WOT, it doesn't downshift before upshifting. It'll stay in whatever gear I'm in, giving me a low growling sound, then once it reaches the specific amount of RPMs, it upshifts. I hope that isn't too confusing.
