Exclamation Is This Stuff Normal?

Just have a few things I noticed with the car that I was wondering if is normal.

When I stomp on the accelerator I will get some turbo lag, then the boost guage goes up to about 120 Kpa (17.5PSI) and then a few seconds will drop down I'll feel the car lose power than it would go back up, regain power, and so on. If I don't totally pin it I can keep a constant 80 - 90 Kpa (11.5 - 13PSI) without it doing this. I inspected my charge air piping looks alright, and I am not sure if this is even a turbo issue because sometimes during a cold start it will surge as I drive away and this time my car isn't using boost at all. Any ideas on that?

Also I noticed the oil seems to smell a lot like fuel, oil level hasn't increased at any amount that I could noticed though.

And lastly, I can hear an intermittent tick now, very light, probobly ever 2 seconds. Any ideas on that?

Thanks a lot guys for your time.

I personally have only had it for about 4 months now. 2009 Cobalt SS 2.0 LNF. The check engine light has never come on, and there are no pending codes, or history.

I bought the car from a Dodge Dealership, wondering if maybe the previous owner tuned it. If there were any aftermarket parts on the car they were changed back to stock on trade in. Could a more aggressive tune, on a stock car cause the car to do this?

Re: Is This Stuff Normal?

I have a tick right when I start up cold in my 2007 automatic ss. I think it's in the rear of the car.

Btw your sure it's not loud enough to be a rod knock right?!? Mine definitely isn't and it in the rear.

These two bolded lines are all very typical for the Direct Injection LNF motor so nothing is throwing a Red Flag due to these comments at all. The High Pressure Fuel Pump ticks very loudly under idle.. most people come to me all worried saying my cars about to blow up not knowing that its just my HPFP making the ticking noise lol

I'd almost have to place money on having some sort of vacuum or boost leak somewhere
