Dead Battery?

First off . . my car was wrecked in september . . and has been sitting in my drive since then. It started when I moved it off the road after the accident, and it started when the tow truck driver drove it to the spot in my drive where it currently sits.

Im selling it tomorrow (hopefully) . .. I went out today and hooked up jumper cables to it to jump it, since the battery is dead. When I hook up cables . . everything lights up, blowers work, dash works . . . dome lights . . etc . . . i can hear the fuel pump pressure up as well.

I go to start it . . and I get a rapid and loud *Click click click . . * repeatedly. When thishappens all my lights flicker. when theclicking stops . . Ive let it sit fr about 15 min *charging* while hooked up to another running car . . but still the same thing occurs.

I can hear something kind of *winding down after the clicking stops when i let off the key . . .

Please tell me this is just a dead battery . . .

thank you.

Tap on the starter solenoid with hammer. It probably rusted a bit enough to stop it from actuating.

You can get at it from the bottom front. Just jack front drivers side.

Yes, but what you hear is the solenoid so it must be the bendix itself that is stuck. Tap on the starter with a hammer you won't hurt it. If it doesn't budge you'll need a starter or a bigger hammer.

Etnies is right. Unless you have very large jumper cables, all the power is going to the dead battery, with not enough left over to crank. It needs to be charged, or left on the jump car at least 45 minutes.

Alright... I tried to tap on it... I'll charge it longer as well... Thanks... I guess it doesn't matter if you jump it off a fresh battery if yours isn't charged fully, I let it charge 15 min... I'll try
45... I appreciate it...

Nobody is born knowing all. Actually some are but they're on a different forum.lol

Don't matter for the tapping, but it's more like hitting it than tapping. It probably rusted a bit.
