Opinion On Lucas Oil

Just looking for opinions...I use valvoline Max life non-synthetic 5w30. My 2.2 has 198k HAAARD miles and has developed a knocking noise. not sure if its top or bottom end. Im trying to make this motor last, considering i need it as a daily driver and funds for rebuild are unavailable. I used to have a 95 Ram and when the motor was on its last leg, i used Lucas and extended its life by a year! (It ran on pure lucas) Wondering if substituting a quart at every oil change will be beneficial or detrimental...

I dont think it would make that much of a difference to be honest. Most knocking comes from being low on oil so make sure you are always at full and see if it gets worse.

I'm not sure if the timing chain tensioner could handle the thicker oil. Would probably do more harm than good. Best bet is to drive it like a normal a-b car and do your oil changes every 3000 miles.

Agreed. There's no magic bullet to repair wear. I wouldn't want to put something more viscous in there either.
