Is this normal?

So randomly my dash lights and my radio lights will dim dramatically. Is this normal? I've heard someone say that's just how chevys are wired. I've noticed that my music gets a little quieter when I slow to a stop as well. Is there anyway I could fix this?

How old is your battery/alternator? Sounds like you either have a bad electrical connection or one of those two are not holding/maintaining the proper power for your vehicle.

Are you by any chance mistaking the auto lights coming on and off. When they are on, the interior lights look dim in the day time. Also, I think the stock radios have something that adjusts the sound when going faster.

I think the lights are dimming from the auto headlights.

I don't know if the higher cobalts had this option, but some cars turn up the radio slightly when moving at higher speeds to combat road noise.

Edit: Too slow, haha.

Under what circumstances is this happening (i.e. morning, night, other)?

Like rms said, the ambient light sensor is a bit touchy. For example, just before dusk when the sun is right in your eyes and burning out your retinas, the sensor will dim your interior lights because, I suspect, the angle of the sun isn't catching the sensor. At other times, if the car is sitting in shadows or you drive under a long overpass it will read low light and dim your interiors.

Day or night, under any circumstances, it'll do this. I watch it get dimmer and then brighter. It's just random when it does this.
Let me test my battery and altenator.

So it's not happening under any specific circumstances, you just have a dimming of all lights in the vehicle randomly?
