Intermediate Shaft - Part #'s and Questions..
So I posted about a knocking noise while braking a little while back...
2008 Chevy Cobalt LT 2.2L 2 Door
Symptoms - Slight Vibration and loud clunking ONLY while moderate (normal) braking from speeds 65ish MPH down to 40MPH. No noise while braking from 75 down to about 68. The noise stops once the braking speed goes below 40 MPH. The clunk is in the front end, sounds like it could be in the steering system.
I was advised per a single post on here that it could be the intermediate steering shaft (100K miles on the car and I have not replaced it).
Do you agree, disagree?
If you think it is indeed the shaft, does anyone have a part # for the new/revised steering shaft that GM recently released?
Any thoughts on the Dorman Intermediate steering shaft?
If you don't think its the intermediate steering shaft, any other thoughts?
Thought maybe the brand new rotors were bad, but with the vibration only in that mid 60 to 40 range - just confusing me.
Thank you! I really appreciate any and all help
