Car Would Not Crank when Attempting to Start

I have a N/A 2006 2.2l manual trans. Cobalt. It sat in my driveway for about 4 hours before I tried to leave again to get some dinner, but the car would not start. I had full power to all the accessories in the car, such as the dashboard lights, radio, and even the headlights turned on. When I tried again to crank it I had the window rolled down to listen for any clicking and didn't hear anything.
I tried an external battery charger to see if that would work, but the battery had more than enough charge to start the car.
I'm assuming that both the solenoid and the starter are dead, but something strange happened. I had rolled my car out of the driveway to let my roommate leave to free up the space in the garage to work on my car. After I pushed it out of the way, I attempted again to start it and it worked, the car started.
I'm going to let it sit overnight and try again tomorrow morning, but I'm wondering if someone else can help confirm that it's my starter.
I use my car for work so I really need a quick fix for this, I'm hoping that it's not something more complicated.

Thank you for your help!

Thanks Coby7, I didn't consider that before but I did some reading and I think that may be the issue (hopefully). It started fine this morning so I think it may have been wiggled out of place but I might just replace it anyways just in case.

Hm, I can see the value in your logic. It's kinda like when you go to a vending machine and it doesn't dispense the soda can, you just give it a nice good kick and the soda can comes out. So the same thing must work with hitting the hood with a hammer, brilliant!!

haha, but on a serious note, the car started this morning and I drove it to a Chevy dealer and asked the tech about it. They pretty much said clean the battery cables and check connections, everything I already done when this problem happened, and they said they knew nothing about the clutch switch because they rarely ever service manual transmissions. So no help there.

I did adjust the switch and double checked the connection. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope that the car won't have this problem again, otherwise I'll change the switch and worst case scenario change the starter.

If you didn't even hear a click it's not the starter.

Hi! I have the same problem.
Yesterday, when I come home (engine hot), get key off and then try to start engine but starter not click and crank. I check clutch pedal starting sensor with OBD scan its good. All sensors and fuses are good. At morning (engine cold) starter working good and all is ok. After few miles (engine hot) starter is dead and not crank. I check and clean ground wire on driver side under headlight but its not help me. Where the ground on engine side? 2005 balt 2.2. Any ideas?
