Random Bucking when into Gear...
I am not a gearhead but now as I am having issues with my 05 chevy cobalt coupe, I have ben learning here and there with my grandfather and we are having a problem that just will not go away so bear with me and I will report any feedback and communication on this thread to my grandfather in an attempt top get this car road ready again.
Here is the problem:
Car overheated last year resulting in an engine replacement..used engine out of a malibu with 140k miles. They also replaces a variety of misc. hoses and such when they did the install. I got the car back and was fine for a week..ran like it did back in 05. I turn the car on and upon going into first gear, or any other gear for that matter, it began to buck almost as if it were a manual tranny and i was trying to go into fifth gear from a standstill. Turned car off and a few days later when my grandfather arrived it worked fine again. Drove it from Florida (where i was living) all the way up to Pennsylvania with NO problems. Now it is doing it again ..randomly. You can feel it kick a little when startup and thats when i can tell it will do it..and it does,...bucking each gear and losing my power steering. Then 20 mins later it will run fine.
Fixes so far: My grandfather did all the basic steps such as cledaning filters, changing fluids, etc. He also just installed a new transmisssion control module as instructed by autozone..still no relief. One minute its in its prime the next i cant leave the supermarket bc its bucking and needs a breather.
TLDR; Car randomly bucks changing gears , losing p-steering and forced to pull over. Short "breather" and it runs like a charm for hours on end.
Thanks fellas we have ben putting so much time/$$$$ into fixing this and this random issue has us stumped. Appreciate any advice!
