Unhappy Question: Cleaning Power Steering

I have a 2010 cobalt and the power steering light just came on. I read that you can clean the power steering to possibly prolong the lifetime. As I was attempting to get to the power steering I came acrossed a problem. How do you disconnect the internal trunk release? Does anyone have any advice on what I should do or give me instructions on how to clean it? It would be greatly appreciated.

Why? Chances are if the light came on for power steering it is because you lost GMLan. They you check all fuses in "BCM" fuse block? Here is what the column looks like with motor on the end.

Sswenson451,

I see you want to do this yourself. However, if you would like us to make sure you do not have a special coverage for this concern, please private message me your VIN.
