Car Revving High, Very Low Acceleration

I started my 2007 cobalt, auto transmission, and everything sounded normal. I reversed and I did not notice anything unusual. I put my car into drive and then noticed that I was barely accelerating. I looked at my speedometer and it was not moving at all, just staying still at 0. I then looked at my rpms, and it was revving very high, not shifting. Anyone know what this could be?!

Where is the speed sensor located? I'm thinking packrats might have chewed on wires.

Sounds like the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor), should be mounted near the transmission area, it detects either pulse width modulated or GM's favorite Hall Effect Sensor and its supposed to count gears off and on to determine speed delivered from the output shaft, but your vehicle is an auto trans so it uses solenoids and computer TCM inputs.
