Rattling with a Cold Start Up?

I have a 2006 with the 2.2 and 240k miles, no problems to speak off so far. Lately, I've noticed a rattling when I start it after it has set for a few hours or overnight. It goes away after it warms up. I change my own oil regularly and haven't seen any metal shavings. When I first noticed I started using some Lucas with the oil change. That seemed to help for for a while then I noticed it again. I switched to a high mileage oil and still use the Lucas thst helped fir a while also, but it seems the amount of time it takes for it to stop seems to be getting longer (2-3 minutes). Any ideas on to what this may be?
I've read it could be timing chain slapping or piston rod on crank due to oil draining to the pan.

Timing chain tensioner. Gm made a new updated one, get that and your problems should be solved. Also make sure your oil is always full, hydraulic tensioners don't like being starved

At 240,000 miles you are due for a timing chain kit.

Thought timing chain was a lifetime part. Would be worth changing your balance shaft tensioner

Ummm... should be changed at least every 100k. It'd be best to replace both chains, all guides and both tensioners

Wtf...when did chains become an expendable part? I've seen cars with over 350k km and the original chain

Here is what the kit looks like. Not saying to buy this one, just for reference.

A $120 kit for 100k miles isn't bad... yes the chain stretches, just not as easy as a belt.

That's an excellent price. My water pump alone was $70

If you don't keep your oil topped up and get regular oil changes the timing chain wears and stretches, if it gets hot enough. In ideal conditions it should last 250,000 miles and he's there.

I purchased that particular kit for a friend of mine that didn't have a PayPal account or ebay user. He had it installed by an other friend of ours. Our mechanic friend said he couldn't believe we had paid less than a $100 for it. It takes about 2 hours for a mechanic that's done it before. Would probably take me the whole day. His was a Saturn ION.
