Question Econ Display Erratic

I've searched the various threads and been unable to find a problem similar to mine. If there is a thread I apologize for my poor search skills.

So here goes. I have a 07 LT 'Balt Sedan.

Up until a few days ago it was fairly consistent in my econ display. Now however it is very erratic and will go up and down from 18 to 29ish mpg. Often within the space of a few minutes.

I tried resetting the Econ gauge to no avail.

Has anyone come across this before or have any insight as to what it could be.

The fuel gauge and miles to empty display are still showing consistant and from what I can tell correct information.

Thanks

It displays average fuel economy. If you reset it it will be all over the place until you have a long enough period to display a stable average. The longer you go without reseting it the more you get close to your true average for the car and for the said periode of time.

Problem is it went completely erratic on me before I reset it. Just really hoping it isn't a symptom of something else that will come rear it head down the road.
