Car Alarm Turn Off?

2006 chevy cobalt 4c 2.2l. I've looked and looked and cannot find this fix. Every time I open my door, the car alarm goes off until i put the keys in the ignition. it is beyond annoying for me (and i'm sure my neighbors) because i leave for work at 4:30 am every morning. I can't open any car doors or the trunk w/o putting the keys in the ignition first for a second. It's on some sort of timer. if i get out of the car, i have roughly 30 secs to open the doors w/o it going off again. I can't find any sort of info on whether it's a circuit i can just unplug or what. I was told (i think) by a mechanic when i got my oil changed that was surprised by it, that it can't be shut off. Is this true?

If you lock the door with a key fob you have to open it with a key fob or the alarm goes off.

If it was locked by a key FOB you need to unlock it with the key FOB to disarm the alarm. Then if you want to use just the key you can. If the alarm was never disarmed by your key FOB it will stay armed.

Just get your key FOB repaired.

I want to know why you're not just using the FOBs to lock/unlock the doors? Do you have them & they are functional?

Why would using the key intended to unlock the door of said vehicle cause the alarm to go off? Doesn't make any sense to me......

Because the alarm was set by the FOB and you can't disarm the alarm with the key with these car.

In case a thief tries to unlock your car. If the car was locked with a key fob, which it was at one time, the signal from the key fob is what disables the alarm. Any other method of opening the door will set off the alarm.

same problem

We have the same problem in out 2005 cobalt. The solution is that when you park the car lock all the doors with the door lock switch before you get out then reach over and manually unlock your drivers door then manually lock it once you open the door. We do this and the alarm is no loner a problem unless we forget to do it lol.
