2006 Cobalt LT Problems - Multiple Engine Missfire

Okay, First thing is first.. Some info on my car:
2006 Chevy Cobalt LT
2.2l Ecotec Engine - 88,000miles
-------------

How it All started:
Okay, Pretty much since I got the car roughly 3 years ago, It has always had an idle problem. It wasn't all the time, but more times then not. When releasing the gas, it would fluctuate between 300-800rpms a few times then sometimes it would settle and idle fine around 7-800rpms. I searched on this already and seen it was something to do with cleaning the throttle body with carb. cleaner to fix this issue (still haven't done it)

So, a week ago, I go to leave work, start up my car and go check the gauge on my oil (Plan on changing oil the next day) and it was very low as I suspected. I clean off the stick and put it back.. From there I get into my car and notice my check engine light clicked on while I wasnt in the car.

I start driving and when I let off the gas, It would idle bad but instead of fluctuating it would just drop so low it would stale everytime.

Thankfully it would start up everytime again but would stale about 5 times before I got home (only 1/2 mile drive home from work) Pretty much every stop I had to take.

The last stale was when I pulled into my drive way and I just put it into park and went in side. The next day. It wouldn't start up, and still will not start up.
---------

when Going to start it up, It will turn over and over but wont start. Rarely you will hear a backfire from the engine and thats it.

I have checked plugs (they look rough, I bought some new ones to change)
Changed Oil (Oil is dark, no water in oil but does smell very strong like gas)
Removed air hose from after the airflow sensor(?) and tried to start it.
Tried starting with starter fluid

I am lost and have no Idea what to do. I am not that into cars and I really do not know a thing about them.

I do not know the code number, but it was Multiple and/or Random Engine Misfire.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your ignition coilpack probably went bad.

I did not send you a link...!!!Must be somebody else.

One has the ignition module and the other only has coils. You need to get a complete ignition coilpack since you don't know which is bad the module or the coils.

Also took cover off to access throttle body. Cleaned that out since it needed it.

I also tried starting with starter fluid and still wouldn't start.

Check all your fuses, you're not getting spark

are there any specific ones i should check first? If so under the hood or passenger side?

It would help alot if I could narrow it down a bit

Thank you for the reply

I am stilling having issues.. reading around.. my car did make a weird "slapping" sound at first start up and now I am thinking it might been the timing chain?

Could this be the root of my problems and if so.. is it possible the chain broke or slipped of and if so what would I need to fix this?
