2006 Cobalt LS Manual Window Stuck

Just picked up a base model LS with manual windows.

The drivers side window appears to be jammed. It will not come down (not frozen) as the weather is warm today. I presume the previous owner had this problem for a while as the window lever is stripped and you can feel it just jumping on the shaft as your turn it.

Any common problems I should be aware off before I pop off the door panel?

Thanks in advance!

Can't be too common because I've never heard of a manual crank failing.

I guess that's a good thing. I guess I will take it apart. I have a feeling it might of jumped the tracks or something. running through the gremlins on this car one at a time.

It was the manual window regulator. It was seized and the gears on the had actuator would bind and jump.. I got one from the junk yard for $8.00. I cleaned it out with some solvent and re-greased it. Removing the window clips was a PITA. You need to get the window to come down slightly, press down on both white clips at the same time and push the window regulator rail to the left. Mine was not very cooperative... Once the window was free, I manually lifted it back up and taped it to the door while I installed the replacement regulator.

All good now!

fierodough next time take lots of pictures, we love pictures of Cobalt parts. Often when you see, it is a lot easier to understand.
