Question 2008 Cobalt Ls Ignition

FYI My 2008 cobalt ls ignition has already been replaced due to the recall. Since that time I had a key broken off in the ignition. Today we extracted the broken piece using lock pick tools and a guitar string. We were successful at extracting it. However, now the car will not start. There is power. The starter and the solenoid are working but there is no signal getting to them from the ignition. Could we have caused this when we extracted the broken key or is this just a coincidence? Has anyone else had this experience?

For the key, are you using one with a paired chip (+) and did you marry it to the vehicle?

When were you able to get the ignition switch replaced?
My recall letter and calls to my dealer indicated that they would call when they have the replacement parts available.
I called again last week and my dealer said that they still do not have the new part?

Check all fuses and make sure new key is matted to the theft deterrent module.

Hey Barbie23800,

I am sorry to hear you are having this concern with your ignition switch. How long ago was your repair? I would like to look into this further with your Chevrolet dealership. Please private message me your name, VIN, phone number, and Chevrolet dealership name. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
