The fuel filter for a cobalt is expensive in the first place so having a dealer do it that sounds about right.

No it's not I got all the parts for $25, if you call that expensive you're one of the cheapest people on the earth.

It costs more from the dealer.

and most fuel filters are way cheaper than that anyway. The cobalt filter has a fuel pressure regulator built into it.

Beware of rusted fuel lines. Mine cracked when I took off the old filter. Then I paid a shop to install a new fuel line. If no rust than it's a simple job

When you consider that their labor rate is $75-$100 per hour, yes, that's a rip-off. Get the part online and take 10 minutes of your time to DIY.
