Question DIC Warning: KEY FOB BATTERY LOW

Hello Everyone,

I have a 07 Cobalt LT. For several months, I have been getting the DIC Warning: KEY FOB BATTERY LOW. This message stays on unless I change info. I bought a new FOB battery, but the warning message is still there. I've tested the FOB transmitter range and it works well at approx. 70 FT. I think the sensor to detect the FOB key is going bad and I'm afraid if I don't fix this soon, I will not be able to start the car.

Has anyone dealt with this problem and what is the fix?

Try taking some alcohol and cleaning the battery and it's contacts. Be careful not to separate the battery clip from the board if it hasn't already separated.

Do you only have the one remote?

Remote FOB has been cleaned and battery clip resoldered. I do have another FOB key and will test it the next few days.

The message seems to be intermittent. Just this morning, I went out to wash the car and the message did not appear when info was set for coolant. Twice I started the car and coolant info appeared.

Might be the other remote being detected if you happen to hit the button wherever it is.
