Key fob issue. Maybe?

It just hit me that my key fob stopped working (on just the doors-the trunk still worked) after the hubby put a new lock switch in for the possessed door locks. Does the key fob need to be reprogrammed to the new switch, or am I grasping at straws?

No you do not need to reprogram your car for the remotes. You probably need a new button pad or some kind of repair. On average I rebuild at least 12 of these each day.

You could also follow my DIY...

How much would you charge if I just sent it to ya? Hubs has enough paying stuff coming up that he doesn't feel like messing with it. (Nor does he have a soldering tool.)

Don't know until I see them but usually between $10 and $15 each covers all the parts if the cases are in good condition. PM me for my shipping address if you're interested.* Just finish a set for a guy in Michigan for his 1996 Riviera that couldn't find anybody in his area to fix his. He is going to be a happy camper. His came to $20 plus $7.05 shipping for both. I do it for fun and to help people out, not really in it for the money as long as I'm not on the losing end. Once repaired you will not need to reprogram these for a Cobalt.

Coby, I'm just going to order some new remotes on ebay. My mechanic won't charge me to program them, and it's probably better that I have two of them. (Only got one with the car.) We took the remote apart there at the guys shop and its pretty much shot. EVERYTHING would need soldered, and while the guy could do it, it will be easier to pay $25 and get two new ones.

Up to you, let me know if I can help if the ones off eBay don't work. I have a few good ones here but I don't know what it would cost to ship them to you.

Don't throw the old one away, I will pay shipping instead. I can then help somebody else with it.

Also, do you know anything about the key/fob sets on ebay? Only one key too, & after looking, I'm prettu sure it'll be cheaper to order a key and two fobs from eBay than to even consider a spare key from the dealer. Will the keys also need to be programmed? And is it the same as programming the fob? And how would I get the teeth on the key? Is it something I can have done at Wal-Mart or menards?

Wait for your ignition recall it comes with 2 new keys programmed to the car.

As for the key FOBs on ebay I have to repair 8 out of 10 when I purchase them so they are fit to re-sell to clients. But I'm used to it now and make sure I don't overpay for crap that I'm going to have to put in $10-$15 in parts.
