My 2006 Cobalt has trouble starting, I will turn the key and it will crank and barely start, it doesn't always do this, maybe 1/10 times, but it never sounds good. The rest of the times it starts perfectly fine. Is this normal?
Because is 1/10 times and I assume you have no check engine is a bit tricky to diagnose....
Did you had the ignition switch recall done? I have another GM car and if I turn the key all the way to the right the car will have a hard time starting. If I turn just slightly after I hear the engine cranking will start just fine - I assume is a bad ignition switch so maybe yours starts to go bad as well.
Try another key and pay attention every time and see what's different when the car has a hard time. Any other problems that may not seem connected with the rough start? How many miles ? You could look for loose and corroded connections at the battery / ground points and the connection to MAF sensor .
