Need Help Finding Mystery Knock

I bought this car knowing it had a bad timing chain, it was slapping pretty obviously. It ran and drove, albeit ran poorly. Bought the car for nothing and did the chain. It didn't start and realized it was a tooth off. Did a compression test and they were all low, 70 and number 4 was at 30. Therefore my initial blunder caused the valves to hit the pistons. Pulled the head sent it out, four valves leaked but they didn't need to replace them, they got away with just cutting the head. We put the head on and did the timing chain right started it up and ran fine for a few seconds but they I heard the chain slapping looked at the motor up and down. Took the tensioner off and it wasn't deployed. I mean it wasn't tensioning the chain. Put it back in and the motor continued to knock. Our thinking now is bottom end, ie wrist pins or rod bearings. Any Input is appreciated and welcome.
