Alarm keeps staying on - trunk sensor?
This 2005 Cobalt LS has the alarm that came on randomly a while back, and can't be disabled now. The alarm goes off when opening the doors manually every time (it used to be off at all times).
Tried everything that was suggested on the internet to get the alarm disabled again: replaced the key fob to try and disable it, tried the diff. combinations of turning on ignition / manually locking doors, etc. - nothing seems to work). Then thought it might something to do with the font hood latch sensor. I did already look for a hood latch sensor to check it, though this car doesn't seem to have one (none that I can see anyway, after taking the headlights out).
Now it seems like it may have to do with the rear trunk sensor, since the last thing I remember doing when the alarm turned on was getting something out of the back trunk (when it was cold out).
Can anyone share some advice on this at all? More specifically how to test to see if the rear trunk sensor is bad? Also how to go about finding it, and replacing if if needed.
Wanted to add that I read the switch (for the rear trunk. is in the latch somewhere.
